When you have made the decision to get a tattoo, you have hopefully given it a great amount of thought in regard to what type of tattoo design you want and where you want to put it. Since a tattoo is a direct reflection of you, you want to take the time to plan it right, shop around! Just don’t go get the first tattoo you see at just any old tattoo parlor.
You want to look for a talented tattoo artist that you can have a couple or three consultations with to discuss tattoo designs, prices, and to look at his or her past work. This will also give you a chance to look around the studio and ask questions regarding aseptic technique, etc.
You want to make sure that the tattoo artist uses a new set of sterile needles and ink pots on each person to ensure that you do not contract any blood borne diseases, such as Hepatitis B or C, or HIV.
Most reputable licensed tattoo parlors practice sterile technique and you have the right to be concerned about your health, and no one should be offended that you are requesting information for your own reassurance.
